 Programs:  Public safety administration

Representatives of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) on a study mission on training and further training programs in the field of public safety with members of the Second Division of the Bavarian Mobile Support Police in Eichstätt, Germany (April 1999)

The program for public safety administration is an educational and advocacy program for instructors and trainors aimed at advancing the process of peace building, democracy, respect for human rights, and civilianization in the public safety sector as well as in enhancing the professionalism of public safety law enforcers.

The program is undertaken through a project with the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), an attached agency of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). It involves a series of 10-day, intensive live-in seminars conducted in major regions of the country representing the national and regional units of the PPSC.

In view of the government's thrust towards community-oriented policing, support has been given to the institutionalization of a three-year Faculty Development Program of PPSC. This involves a 15-month capability-building training course as well as faculty exchanges and study programs between the Philippines and Germany.

The project with the PPSC has been completed in cooperation with the Benigno S. Aquino Foundation - Institute for People Power and Development (IPPD/BSAF), Philippine Normal University (PNU), Metrobank Foundation, Inc., and the Hanns Seidel Foundation/Germany.
