- To provide support for research and teaching. To conduct scientific studies, to discuss and publish ideas and innovations in order to provide a forum for new and better solutions

- To establish equality of opportunity for all. To promote individual achievement according to ability and calling by means of adult education, vocational trainiing and scholarship programmes
- To foster intellectual, creative achievements in Bavaria. To preserve historic monuments and lively customs in the tradition of Bavaria's cultural heritage
